How to Maintain your Worm Bin

  • Moisture: Should be damp like a wrung out sponge
  • Air: Worms need air to breath, and it can be helpful to “fluff” your bin every 2 weeks by running your hands through it and loosening up the bedding
  • Feeding: Start small with 1 cup of frozen food scraps/week. If the food is gone, it’s time to feed again. If there is still some left, wait a couple days. When you add the food, sprinkle ground eggshells on top, then cover with shredded cardboard, newspaper, or leaves
  • DO Feed: Frozen fruit and veggie scraps, coffee grounds, ground eggshells
  • DON’T Feed: Seasoned cooked foods, oils, dairy, meat, garlic, onions, citrus, or spicy foods
